April 27 - Small Group News!

Welcome to another beautiful Monday!

Before we get into tonight's study I wanted to mention, once again, a few upcoming events at the Vineyard.

Please check out the above links if you're interested, otherwise, let's continue with tonight's Small Group News!

We meet tonight at 8 PM.

Ruth was generous, loyal and loving, she was strong and serene, able to take unusual risks, dealing with the consequences.  Her story can be found in Ruth 2-4; Matthew 1:5

The questions we will be discussing tonight are:
  1. What is Ruth known for? What reputation goes with her to the field?
  2. When Boaz was sleeping at the threshing floor instead of at home, was Ruth's behavior immoral? What was she asking by her behavior?
  3. Through Boaz, God honored Ruth's faithfulness to Naomi and to Himself. If you have been faithful through difficult circumstances, how has God shown his faithfulness to you?
  4. Naomi's restored joy is described, but nothing is said of Ruth's. In your own words, describe what sort of joy Ruth must have been experiencing.

April 20 - Small Group News!

Tonight's Small Group will be featuring another wonderful woman from the Bible, Naomi.

She suffered a threefold tragedy, losing her husband and both of her sons, but she refused to hide her sorrow or her bitterness. Despite her fixation on her circumstances, which led to hopelessness, she believed in God's sovereignty. She was a kind and loving mother-in-law, inspiring unusual love and loyalty in her sons' wives.

Her story can be found in Ruth 1; 4:13-17

Our questions this week will be posted during tonight's Small Group, so you don't want to miss it!

As most of you know, the Vineyard's Single Moms' Spa Day will be held on Saturday, May 2.  Whether you would like to volunteer, or donate, any help would be most appreciated!  Here is the link for full information:  2015 Single Moms' Spa Day

Blessings!
Kathy

April 13 - Small Group News!

This week's study will focus on a woman who did not follow God or obey His voice. In fact, Delilah used her beauty to betray her lover for her own profit and gain. However, as in all of God's word, we can learn a lot from her life choices and decisions.

Her story can be found in Judges 16:4-22
Tonight's questions are:

  1. Why was Delilah willing to betray Samson? Why do you think Samson played along, giving her false answers?
  2. How can you tell if someone is speaking the truth? How important is it to be able to discern the truth?
  3. Not only did Samson's strength leave him, but the Lord left him as well. Does this surprise you? When have you felt at your weakest spiritually? Did you feel this way because God had left you? Or because of something you had done yourself?
  4. Why do you think the story of Delilah is important? What can she teach us?

April 6 - Small Group News!

Last week we discussed Deborah, a judge of Israel, so it's only fitting that we open up the month of April with her counterpart, Jael!

Welcome to another great month of Bible study!

Decisive and courageous, she seized the opportunity to kill an enemy of God's people.  Jael's story can be found in Judges 4-5.

Join Authentic Living Ministries tonight at 8 PM as we discuss...
  1. Use three adjectives to describe Jael before she kills Sisera. Pretend you don't know what she's going to do and describe her just from Judges 4:17-20.
  2. Why do you think Jael did what she did? Do you see her as brave, fearful, desperate, treacherous? How much do you think her life experience in a brutal culture had to do with it?
  3. Why do you think Deborah praised Jael for such a savage deed?
  4. What do you think God wants us to take away from the story of Deborah, Barak, and Jael and all of the death woven within it?
