Welcome to Authentic Living Ministries, your online Small Group for Women.  

Whether this is your first time in an online Small Group, or you’ve been here before, I would like to personally invite you to join us as we look into the lives of some of our favorite, and not so well-known, women from the Bible.

As we look into the lives of the women in Scripture you will see more than just some women who lived thousands of years ago.  You’ll see yourself.  As you dig deeper and immerse yourself in their lives you’ll see more and more where your life intersects with theirs.

December 15 Update - Small Group Tonight

Happy 15th of December!

Tonight is our final night of the study, A Heart of Thanksgiving.  Once again, please meet tonight underneath the picture as we discuss how thanksgiving is more than a grateful attitude; it needs to be expressed to God and to those around us. 

Tonight is also our final night of the year!  Beginning tomorrow we will be taking a 2-week holiday from our meetings, and starting back up again on January 5th!  I pray that these next few weeks will be full of fun, fellowship and great blessings!

November 10 Update - Small Group Tonight!

Good morning Ladies and a very happy Monday!

Tonight we are finishing up our study titled "God Loves Me Even When..." with a discussion on our last week's lesson, "Yes, Even Then..."  You won't want to miss it!

Next week we will be starting the study, "A Heart of Thanksgiving."  Please download your copy from our Study Schedule Tab and get ready to celebrate this Thanksgiving season together!

I have exciting news!  Our studies are changing!  After next month's study we will be starting a new book.  As we get closer I will post the necessary information, but I wanted you to have a head's up. The cost for this book, including postage, will be just under $20.   It will be a one-time purchase, as it will cover the entire year, and we will be beginning this new study on January 5, 2015.

October 13 - Small Group Tonight!

Good morning Ladies!


Each one of us has those moments where we feel like we're unloved and unlovable.  We believe our mistakes and past failures have somehow disqualified us from being loved by anyone, even God. But that's just not true. 

God's love has no expiration date, and in this month's study, "God Loves Me Even When..." we will see how God extends His love to us even in the worst moments and choices of our lives.

October 6 Update - Small Group tonight!

Welcome to October!

This month brings the beginning of fall weather, the sound of children laughing as they 'Trick-or-Treat", and lots of yummy recipes featuring my most favorite fall fruit, the pumpkin!

We are also closing out our study, "Postcards from Paul" this week, which has totally blessed my life with it's helpful Bible study hints and personal study helps.  I pray that your life has been blessed as well!

I wanted to take a moment before I announce our next study to let you in on a little change.  The website where we have been getting our study has undergone a change, and in the process, I can no longer find the 'Meet with God' studies.  I have contacted them, but in the mean time, I am posting our next study's PDF on our Study Schedule Tab  Look for the current month, October 13-November 10 and click on the red-highlighted link.   Look up to the top right and click the Download button. Because I am hosting the PDF on my mediafire account, you will need to download the study to your own computer before you can print it out.

When you read a passage of Scripture, observe such details as...

1. CONTEXT - read the verses immediately before and after your passage.  Often the context is right there.  But study all passages in light of the whole Bible.
2. BACKGROUND - when you read, ask who? where? when?
3. ACTIONS - ask, 'What actions are people taking?  What is going on?'

Welcome to Authentic Living Ministries!

If you are continuing on with the group from last semester…welcome back!

In this month’s study, Postcards from Paul, we will tap into Paul’s experience and writings to see how he used God’s Word in his life and ministry, and how we can do the same.

Please head over to BacktotheBible.org to download your PDF (it's the 5th one on the list). We will be starting the study this Monday, September 8, so you will need to begin reading the “Postcards from Paul” study sometime that day.  Then join us at 8 PM as we meet together (in the comments underneath the above picture) on Facebook to discuss what we’ve been studying.

Since we are beginning a new lesson, Monday will be a time of introduction, and give us all a chance to get to know each other and figure out how things work!

For those of you who are new, normally I will be posting updates to the Blog early Monday mornings, which will be sent to you via email.  Please make sure you’ve not only registered your email, but you’ve activated it using the verification code that will be sent to you!

Upcoming New Semester & a Few Changes...

I am excited to announce the news that Authentic Living Ministries is an official Vineyard Small Group!  We are beginning our new semester this coming Monday, September 8 at 8 PM.  Our first study of the semester will be  Postcard from Paul...  Make sure you download your PDF before Monday!

For those of you in the area, if you want to stop by the Small Group Fair this weekend and visit me in the Women's Ministry section, please feel free to do so!  I would love to see you there.

I can hardly wait to get started!

I will have more specific information regarding our current study on Monday, but in the mean time I wanted to touch base with everyone before we ‘officially’ begin the new semester.

As we begin this semester I wanted to take a moment and ask you to reflect on the last few months and your involvement in the Group itself.  If you feel that ALM is not a good fit for your life at this time, I am giving you the opportunity to leave the Group.  While I will be very sad to see you go, I do understand that life gets busy and that’s okay.

I also want to take a moment to update everyone on a few changes.   As you know, this is not only a private Facebook Group, but an active Group.  Our goal is to meet together to study the Bible, and to that end, I am asking that everyone actually participate in the weekly meetings instead of skimming through the posts at our leisure.  If you’ve been attending, you know that our meetings can be quite intimate, with prayer requests and discussions that allow us to work out our faith together and grow toward the women that God wants us to be.  If we are merely skimmers, and not active participants, we lose the very ‘privacy’ and community that makes our Small Group unique.

As of Monday, the new changes are:

1. I am no longer adding women to the Facebook Group without a working email, which means you must register your email and verify it on the Blog first before you can become an official Member. Without an email, you cannot receive updates, and without updates, it’s so easy to fall behind. 
2. You must actually participate in the Small Group meetings. If you do not attend a meeting within 4 consecutive weeks you will be removed from the Group.  (Participation is more than just popping in and saying hello once, or liking the post, it’s actively engaging in the conversation.)

Since most of us have been Members for almost 4 months now, I am asking those of you who have not been participating to take a leap of faith and join us this Monday!  We would love to get to know you better!  If however, you do not attend this Monday, I will be removing you from the Group.  But no worries, if your circumstances change please feel free to ask to join again, provided you follow the guidelines specified above.

If you are new to the Group I would like to say "WELCOME ABOARD"!  We are so happy to have you join us.

Let me just say in closing that I truly have valued and loved everyone of you!  I am so very excited to begin this new chapter in Authentic Living Ministries with you!  I hope to see you on Monday!

August 25 - Small Group Tonight!

Small Group is happening tonight!

It is so good to be back among you ladies!  My week was wonderfully spent with my Mom and now I am ready to get back into the thick of it!

We are finishing our study, "A Soul's Cry: Intimacy" with Week 4.

Due to next week being Labor Day, our next study, "Postcards from Paul" will begin in 2 weeks on Monday night, September 8 at 8 PM.  Make sure to follow the link to download your copy before then!

Also, as most of you know by now, we are officially part of the Small Group catalog for the Vineyard!  With that in mind, the Small Group Fair will be during the regular weekend services on September 5th and 6th.  If any of you would like to stop by the table to see me please feel free to do so, as I will be there for all services.  We are located under the 'Women's Ministry' banner.

Since we are kicking off the new semester with a new study, I would like to ask you to please help me spread the word about Authentic Living Ministries!  Also, if any of you would like to be 'officially' removed from the group, please let me know using the 'Contact Me' form on the Blog.

One more thing, I know that sometimes it's hard to remember that Small Group begins at 8 PM, for those of you who would like an extra 'nudge', please let me know and I will add you to the 'reminder' list via Facebook or Texting - whichever you would prefer!

We often talk about getting to know God, but how do we develop an intimate relationship with Him?  After all, He is God and we are earth-bound humanity.  Maybe you've even caught yourself wondering, Is intimacy with God possible?

Yes, it is.  But it doesn't come naturally or easily. In our next study we will be learning about David, a man who knew God and talked with Him in a very special way.  You don't want to miss this!

June 30 Update - Small Group Tonight

Welcome to Summer!

Here in Arizona we are experiencing the first wave of scorcher days, but even in the midst of the heat there are opportunities to witness the glory of God's creation!  Every morning as I walk to my car there are hummingbirds flitting about in one of the tree's I walk under, the flowers are blooming and to top it off it is the beginning of cherry season!

God is awesome, isn't He?!!!

Tonight we will be discussing Week 1 of  our current lesson, "joseph: Grace in Living Color".  You should be starting Week 2 sometime today.

June 16 Update - New Study Begins Tonight

Welcome to Small Group!

Joseph, an ordinary man used mightily by God.  From his humble beginnings as the favored son to his rise to power and position in the courts of a king, his life was one that spoke of grace.

You are invited to join Authentic Living Ministries as we delve deeper into this man's life and learn how we can have that same grace in our own lives.

When:  Mondays - June 16 to July 14
Time:  8:00 pm  (AZ time) - lasts for an hour
Where:  Facebook - Go to "Join Small Group" for instructions




For those of you who are new, here are a few helpful tips before tonight's Small Group:

1. On the night of Small Group, log-in to Facebook and go to the Authentic Living Small Group page.  I will post a picture for the night, and underneath that picture is where our Small Group will meet for the night.  We will open with prayer, and then I will be posting a series of questions.  All answers should be posted in the comments under the picture.  We will close with prayer.
2. All answers should be prefaced with Q1, Q2, etc…so that we know which question is being answered.
3. The pace of the Group moves fast.  Refreshing will be needed at times to stay current with comments. The easiest way is to hit F5 on your keyboard.  Otherwise use the refresh at the top of your browser.

June 9 Update - Small Group Tonight

This week we are ending our very first Small Group study, Stepping Stones!

I pray that this study has truly blessed you.  I know that it has for me!  We are finishing up tonight with a discussion about Week 4: Blue Monday!  As this is our last week of the study, there will be no assigned reading.  Instead I want to encourage you to take this week to go over what we’ve learned, pray on it, and ask God to speak to you what is on His heart.

I am excited to officially announce our next study!

June 2 Update- Small Group Tonight!

Welcome back to Small Group!

I hope you had a great Memorial Day celebration and are ready to get back into the thick of it!

This week we will be continuing our Stepping Stones study with discussing Week 3: Wisdom for the Day.

You should begin reading Week 4: Blue Monday, sometime today.

I am so excited to announce that in just 2 short weeks we will begin our 2nd Small Group study!  For those of you who are interested, please go to BackToTheBible.org and download your copy of Joseph; Grace in Living Color.

Joseph is one my very favorite Bible characters.  He was certainly no saint, but in the midst of his greatest trial he remained faithful to God, and that gives me such hope and comfort in my own life.  I can't wait to delve into this man's life in more detail, and I'm hoping that you will share my same excitement!

Because we are starting a new study in 2 weeks I am going to be opening up the Small Group to other ladies who might benefit from this format.  If you know of anyone who might like to join us, please invite them!  Send them to the Blog first, so that they can get the full information needed.

On another note, I've submitted the Letter of Intent for the Fall Semester at the Vineyard, so once that is officially approved we will be in the Small Group Catalog.  I can hardly wait to see what God is going to do through us, and in us!
