June 29 - Small Group News!

Welcome to Online Small Group!

Tonight at 8 PM we will be closing out the month of June with the Queen of Sheba.

Though a pagan queen like Jezebel, she prized wisdom above power. She appears to have been intellectually gifted, with a good head for business and diplomacy.
Her story can be found in 1 Kings 10:1-13.  She's also mentioned in Matthew 12:42.

Here are tonight's questions...
  1. What two things about Solomon most impressed the Queen of Sheba (10:4-5)?
  2. From everything you observe in this passage, how would you describe the queen?
  3. What is wisdom? How important is wisdom to you? Why is that?
  4. Is there anything in her character that you wish were true of you? What can you do to develop yourself in that area?

June 22 - Small Group News!

Happy Monday Ladies!

Make plans to join us tonight at 8 PM as we study the life of Rizpah.

Saul's concubine, she was the mother of Armoni and Mephibosheth. Though a woman with few rights and little power, she displayed great courage and loyalty after the deaths of her sons.
Her story can be found in 2 Samuel 21:8-14

Our questions for tonight are:
  1. Rizpah’s vigil probably lasted several months. What do you think she went through during that time? What kept her going?
  2. Have you ever undertaken a task that, had you known what was required, would have seemed beyond your ability or strength? What kept you going? What was the result?
  3. When have you had to have some outside circumstance to stimulate you to do what was right? What was the outcome? What would have happened had you done nothing?
  4. How is God's love for you like Rizpah's love for her children?

Small Group Online on June 15

Hello Ladies!

It's summer time and that means long days of family fun and relaxation!  Some of us will be taking vacations with the kids, some may choose to just hang out at home, and yet for others it's simply business as usual.  Wherever you find yourself this summer I am happy to announce that Authentic Living Ministries will continue to be open for your enjoyment and study of the scripture.

Join us tonight at 8 PM as we continue our Women of the Bible study series with "The Wise Woman of Abel Beth Maacah".

Her name was never recorded, yet she saved her entire town.  Rather than passively wait for someone else to save her city, she had the wisdom and courage to act quickly and decisively.
Her story can be found in 2 Samuel 20:14-22

Our questions for tonight are...
  1. Why do you suppose a “wise woman,” rather than one of the leading men of the city, called out to Joab? What does this say about her?
  2. What do Joab’s terse words in verse 17 tell you about his reaction to this woman?
  3. What do you think about what the town of Abel did to Sheba? Was the bargain they struck with Joab a good one? Why or why not?
  4. The facts of this story are brutal and disturbing, but the facts of life for many today are just as brutal. War, abuse, poverty, illness, or death can besiege families or towns. How can you be a wise woman in your corner of the world?

June 8 - Small Group News!

Welcome to another Monday night!

Tonight's Bible study will feature Tamar, daughter of King David. Her story can be found in 2 Samuel 13:1-22

Our questions for tonight's Small Group will be:
  1. Do you think Amnon truly loved Tamar? Why or why not?
  2. Why did Tamar say that sending her away was “a greater wrong” than rape (13:16)? What did she want?
  3. What should David have done to Amnon? What could he have done for Tamar?
  4. Have you ever been betrayed by someone you trusted? If so, how has it affected your life? Where is God in your story?

June 1st - Small Group News!

Hi there Ladies!

I hope your Memorial Day was a relaxing one, full of family and friends and food, as well as some time to reflect on those who gave their lives so that we could enjoy the many freedoms we have today.

For those of you who are new to Authentic Living Ministries online Bible study, don't forget to purchase your book.  The link for it can be found on the Study Schedule Tab

As you know, tonight's Bible study will focus on the life of Bathsheba, who's beauty made her a victim of a king's desire. Though it's difficult to discern her true character, she seems to have found the courage to endure tragedy, winning the king's confidence and eventually securing the kingdom for her son Solomon.
Her story can be found in 2 Samuel 11:1-12:25

The questions we will be discussing are as follows:
  1. What might Bathsheba have been thinking when David's men came to get her? Could she have said no to David the king? (2 Samuel 11:2-5)
  2. How do you resist your most frequent temptation? What path away from temptation could David and Bathsheba have taken?
  3. What character represents Bathsheba in Nathan the prophet's story? What does that tell you about what God thought of her part in these events? (2 Samuel 12:1-23)
  4. After the death of their son, Bathsheba now accepts  comfort from David (12:24), the very man who had brought all this misery on her. Does this surprise you? Why or why not?

I am looking forward to tonight!  See you Online!

Blessings, Kathy
